Position Summary
ThoughtFocus is looking for Senior developers who will be responsible for building data analytics and reporting solutions for our NYC and London-based financial services client, which operates in Public/Private Loans, CLOs, and Long/Short Credit.
As SQL, Snowflake Team Lead at ThoughtFocus, you will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of our strategic initiatives. You will be responsible for delivering SQL and Snowflake projects End to End, ensuring that project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives to align project objectives with the company's vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- SQL, Snowflake development via expertise in all aspects related to analysis, understanding the business requirement, taking an optimized approach to developing code, and ensuring data quality in outputs presented
- Use advanced SQL to create and optimize stored procedures, functions, and performance optimization
- Approach analytically to translate data into last mile SQL objects for consumption in reports and dashboards
- Lead data transformations using Coalesce or dbt, ensuring efficiency and maintainable
data pipelines.
- Candidate should be able to define and enforce coding standards, data modeling practices and version control workflows.
- Participate in Code reviews, documentation and deployment activities.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills to be able to discuss and deliver requirements effectively with the client
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in MS SQL and Snowflake Data warehouse or Data Vault
- 3+ years of experience in teams where SQL outputs were consumed via Power BI / Tableau / SSRS and similar tools
- Has experience working in a financial services environment or a Tier 1 institute
- Strong understating of data warehousing concepts.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates understanding of Capital markets, Especially in Private equity or
Bond Markets.
- Reasonable understanding of accounting processes.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience in working in an agile development environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Good to Have
- Exposure to Coalesce/dbt environment setup, orchestration, and testing frameworks.
- Optional: Python for light scripting, automation, or data validation.
- Experience with financial data, accounting processes, or reporting systems.
- Interest in learning about private equity, private debt, hedge funds, or CLO structures.
- Experience with version control (Git or similar).
- MBA in Finance
